Semester schedules and registration

On this page you will find a list of the most important issues related to scheduling that you should know when planning your studies.

How are studies scheduled at Humak?

You can find information on semester scheduling and timetables below. You can also find instructions for course registration.

Academic year 2021–2022

1.8.2021–31.7.2022

  • Autumn semester: The autumn semester runs from August 1 to December 31, 2021. Contact teaching starts on September 1, 2021 and ends on December 18, 2021. In multiform teaching, contact teaching begins no earlier than on week 34.

  • Spring semester: The spring semester runs from January 1 to May 31 2022 (statistically, the spring semester ends on July 31). Contact teaching starts on January 7, 2022 and ends on May 31, 2022.

  • Summer semester: The summer semester runs from June 1 to August 31, 2022.

For more information on how to enroll for implementations, read ‘Registration’ below.

The implementation of the courses is always scheduled for a specific period of the academic year. At Humak, there are four periods:

  • The 1st cycle means the implementation in the autumn semester.
  • The 2nd cycle is for the spring semester.
  • The 3rd cycle is for the summer semester.
  • The 0-period means a non-periodic implementation, which you can complete at any time during the academic year.

Please note that the implementation may not always be timed according to the start and end dates of the period, so it is always a good idea to check the start and end dates in the implementation data. The implementation may also be a long term project and continue for example to a second academic year or even throughout the course of your studies.

As a degree student, you must enroll for your studies within the specified enrollment periods.

For more information on how to enroll for implementations, see Registration.

For enrollment instructions, see the Peppi instructions under “PSP – Enrollments”.

Remember that you must be registered as an attending student to be able to register for courses. Read more about study entitlement.

Open University of Applied Sciences students cannot register for implementations in Peppi. Enrollment is always done online.

What is the difference between a course and an implementation?

Your degree includes courses, of which one or more implementations are organized each semester. For example, YHSK01 Finnish Language and Communication 5 ECTS has several different implementations during the academic year, which are scheduled in different periods (online teaching) or are offered to students on specific campuses (daytime students). Enrollment is always done for the implementations.

Lukkarikone offers a view of the Humak reservation system and is intended for the publication of student timetables. With it, you can keep track of your group’s curriculum and save your own timetable. Please note that your timetable information is also available in the Tuudo app. Log in to the locker with your Humak user IDs or search for information without logging in.

For more information, please refer to the Lukkarikone instructions.

The coaching sessions (webinars) of the joint studies of the Humak online degrees at the UAS level are concentrated on two days each month. The webinars for the degree of Cultural Management (Bachelor’s) are also mainly concentrated on these days each month. In addition to the webinars, the training includes tutoring and reception hours and seminars, which may take place outside these times.
